Explore dog breeds before adopting

Browse 24 editorial breed notes sourced from the American Kennel Club (AKC). This is a small selection, not a complete breed catalogue or a match-making test. A mixed-breed dog or any breed not listed can still be recorded in your pet profile. For more breeds, visit the full AKC breed guide (opens in a new tab).

Breed descriptions are general, not predictions about an individual dog or veterinary advice. Ask the rescue about the dog's behaviour, needs and history; discuss health questions with a vet.
